hides all but the bravest stars /

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

This is written for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai; our task is to write a new haiku with the same sense, tone, and spirit of an existing haiku.  Our model was “evening sky” by Alexey Andreyev:

Evening sky – /
over the city lights /
stars hardly seen //

Light pollution has become a serious problem.  It competes with starlight in the night sky, prevents accurate (or in-depth) astronomical observations, disrupts ecosystems, and affects human-animal-plant life cycles.
